Therapy Services

Individual Therapy

I work with all adults through individual therapy at both offices. The types of therapeutic interventions used include but are not limited to:

Family systems therapy

Solution-focused therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy

Brief therapy

With the use of various resources the therapy process may help with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, mood disturbances, substance abuse and any major transitions (blended families, divorce, death) that are causing negative symptoms. Therapy is a process for making changes and to create motivation to increase emotional health and stability.

Couples' Therapy

The couples’ therapy process is available at any stage of the relationship. I treat the identified couple as the primary client and often refer each partner for individual therapy if necessary. The therapeutic interventions that may be used include works from The Gottman Institute and also Emotionally Focused Therapy. I create a safe place for the couple to utilize this time to better connect and create goals in order to make progress in the relationship. This may also be a venue to help a couple find their way to best create separation or determine how to facilitate making changes within the family system.

Children's and Adolescent Therapy

I treat children and adolescents age ten and older. For this type of therapy I incorporate the family that is present and may offer family therapy to support the treatment of the child/teen. Occasionally there may be need to have separate sessions with the adults in the clients life to best address the current concerns and behaviors. The use of a collaborative approach such as school counselors and pediatricians is an important aspect of the type of therapy that I use for my younger clients. Often it takes so time to create a therapeutic relationship and to establish trust with the younger clients as I help them work on the root causes of the negative emotions and behaviors.
